All 9 people onboard ONGC chopper rescued post emergency landing in Arabian Sea.

On Tuesday afternoon, a helicopter carrying seven passengers and two pilots made an emergency landing in the Arabian Sea, near Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) rig Sagar Kiran in Mumbai High.

The Indian Coast Guard, who had joined the rescue operation confirmed that all nine people have successfully been pulled out.

The chopper was attempting to land at the rig, located some 50 nautical miles from the Mumbai coast, when the incident took place. About 1.5 km from the landing zone on the rig, the chopper fell into the sea, a company official said.

The site of the mishap is located 7 nautical miles inside the Arabian sea from Mumbai.

ONGC has several rigs and installations in the Arabian Sea that are used to produce oil and gas from reservoirs lying below the seabed.
