Army Jawan shoots self after killing colleague, injuring 2 soldiers in J-K's Poonch

On Friday morning, two Army soldiers were killed and three others were injured in a case of fratricide which took place in 156 Territorial Army battalion based at Surankote in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch.

According to Army sources, the fratricide occurred at 5.30 a.m. when one jawan fired at three other soldiers in his barrack before shooting himself in the stomach with his own weapon. The soldier who shot the others is also no longer alive.

A detailed probe has been ordered into the incident.

"One more soldier has lost his life in the Surankote fratricide case taking the death toll to two. The fratricide incident took place at 5.30 a.m. today when one jawan fired at three other soldiers in his barrack and later shot himself in the stomach with his own weapon. He is also dead now," said the sources.
