The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued show cause notice to India's low-cost carrier SpiceJet over failure to establish safe, efficient and reliable air services.
"SpiceJet Ltd. has failed to establish safe, efficient and reliable air services under terms of Rule 134 and Schedule XI of the Aircraft Rules, 1937," the DGCA said in a statement.
As per the recent incident with SpiceJet, two of its planes were forced to make a priority landing after a technical snag developed on Tuesday.
- In the last 18 days, there have been eight such incidents, including two new ones, on SpiceJet flights.
"Passenger safety is paramount. Even the smallest error hindering safety will be thoroughly investigated and course-corrected," Aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scinida said.
"We'll be responding within a specified time period & are committed to ensuring a safe operation for our passengers and crew. We are an IATA-IOSA-certified airline. All our aircraft were audited a month ago by the regulator and found to be safe," SpiceJet responded to DGCA.
