India gets Draupadi Murmu as second lady President.

With the Presidential elections' result declaration, India on 21st July celebrates the historic victory of it's 15th President – BJP-led NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu.

The former Jharkhand governor, Draupadi Murmu is not only the second lady to be elected as President but also first tribal President of India.

The Presidential contest took place against joint Opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha who only got 1058 votes while Murmu won with 2161 votes.

Meanwhile, local BJP is planning victory celebrations for Murmu after the results are announced.

On July 18, all elected MLAs and MPs across the country had voted for Ram Nath Kovind's successor between 10 am to 5 pm across 31 locations including the Parliament House and 30 centres within state legislative assemblies. Of the 736 electors comprising 727 MPs and nine MLAs who were permitted by the Election Commission to vote at Parliament House, 728 electors cast their votes. The total turnout at Parliament House was 98.91 percent.

Kovind's tenure is ending on July 24 and the new President will take oath on July 25.
