Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut detained by ED in land scam case

On Sunday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials detained Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut following raid at his residence in connection with the Patra Chawl land scam case.

  • Earlier in the day, the ED conducted a search at his residence in Mumbai in connection with a money laundering case linked to alleged irregularities involving the re-development of a Mumbai chawl.

This action follows the two summons issued by the ED against Raut earlier, the latest being on July 27.

"I swear by late Balasaheb Thackeray that I have nothing to do with any scam," Raut tweeted shortly after ED began their investigation. "I will die but won't leave Shiv Sena," Raut added.

During the raid, large number of Shiv Sena supporters gathered outside Raut's residence and staged protest against the agency's action.
