18 ministers sworn in under Shinde-BJP govt for Cabinet expansion

On Tuesday, the much awaited expansion of the Maharashtra Cabinet took place as a total of 18 MLAs -9 each from BJP and from Chief Minister Eknath Shinde led Shiv Sena faction took the oath at Mumbai's Raj Bhavan.

Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari administered the oath of office to MLAs as ministers.

The Cabinet expansion comes over 40 days after CM Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis were sworn in after a rebellion led by the former led to the dissolution of the Uddhav Thackeray led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government.

  • The BJP MLAs who took oath were- Chandrakant Patil, Sudhir Mungantiwar, Girish Mahajan, Suresh Khade, Ravindra Chavhan, Radhe Krishna Vikhe Patil, Mangal Pratap Lodha, Vijaykumar Gavit and Atul Save.

  • Leaders from Shiv Sena inducted- Dada Bhuse, Sambhuraje Desai, Sandeepan Bhumre, Uday Samant, Tanaji Samant, Abdul Sattar, Deepak Kesarkar, Sanjay Rathod and Gulabrao Patil.

"Cabinet expansion took place today. Starting today, they will work full-fledged and take up the responsibility of their respective departments. The rest of the Cabinet still remains (to be formed)," CM Shinde was quoted.
