Breaking: Jagdeep Dhankar wins Vice Presidential Elections

On Saturday, the National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) nominee, Jagdeep Dhankar defeated Opposition candidate Margaret Alva by a overwhelming majority to become the 16th Vice-President of India.

  • He got 528 votes against Alva who got 182 votes. 725 MPs casted their vote. Fifteen votes were found invalid and 710 were valid.

The former West Bengal governor will now take oath on August 11, a day after the term of the incumbent Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu ends.

The Vice President is also the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.
