6 airbags mandatory in passenger cars from 1st October 2023: Centre

Approving the proposal of minimum 6 airbags in passenger cars, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Thursday said this new rule will come into effect from October 1, 2023.

The Union Minister informed this through a series of tweets mentioning the safety of all passengers is the foremost priority.

This development comes after the death of renowned industrialist and former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry in a road accident on Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway wherein 2 out of four people died on the spot whereas the rest two were rushed to the hospital.
