J-K: Hybrid Terrorist arrested in Reasi district; arms-ammo-explosives and terror fund seized

On Thursday, Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested a hybrid terrorist identified as Zaffar Iqbal of Bal-Angralla in Reasi district for being in touch with terrorist handlers in Pakistan.

Zaffar Iqbal was arrested from Plaasu Nallah by a joint team of police, Rashtriya Rifles and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on the basis of information received at Mahore police station.

  • During the operation, two pistols (Glock), four magazines, 22 live ammunition and one grenade were recovered from a hideout in the area. Thereafter, the security personnel recovered terror-fund of Rs 1,81,000 in cash which was to be used for terror-related activities.

Zaffar is the brother of Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Mohd Ishaq, who was killed in an encounter with security forces in Rajouri district. Also, one of Iqbal’s relatives Abdul Rashid Mahore from Reasi is in Pakistan and is also working with terror groups.

Reasi Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amit Gupta termed Iqbal’s arrest a big success as a major terror strike has been averted.

“Hybrid terrorists” are unlisted radicalised people who carry out terror strikes and slip back into their routine lives often without leaving any trace.
