Heavy rains worsen flooding in Delhi

Delhi is currently facing flooding and waterlogging in various parts of the city, despite receiving a fresh spell of showers on Sunday.

The Yamuna river has reached a record high, and its overflow is posing a threat to low-lying neighborhoods in the city, which has a population of over 20 million. In response to the situation, the authorities have deployed army engineers to a barrage, and several people have been relocated to temporary relief camps or elevated roads in areas close to the riverbank, which have been inundated over the past 48 hours.

Unfortunately, the rain and flooding have caused significant losses to the business community, with an estimated worth of ₹ 200 crore. It is crucial to continue monitoring the situation and providing necessary support to those affected, including the traders who have suffered losses.
