Indore Municipal Corporation employee arrested for raping sick woman

On Friday, a 31-year-old municipal corporation employee in Madhya Pradesh's Indore district has been arrested for allegedly raping a 21-year-old woman who was sick, under the jurisdiction of Malharganj police station.

 The police were informed after the victim's family members admitted her to the hospital. 

“On Thursday, the police received information that a 21-year-old woman, who was bleeding, was admitted to the hospital by her family members. After that the police reached the hospital, talked to the kin about the matter and came to know that she was raped,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Aaditya Mishra said.

As per the victim's complaint, the accused, who works on a contract basis with the civic body's garbage vehicle, resides in the same colony as her and sexually assaulted her twice - on July 12 and July 19.

The victim alleged that during the first incident, the accused visited her residence and raped her, even threatening to harm her if she resisted. In the second incident, which occurred on July 19, the accused once again came to her house and sexually abused her. The victim further claimed that the accused threatened to set her father on fire and abandon her in a distant location.

The Malharganj police have registered a case against the accused under IPC sections 376 (2) (n), 450 and 506. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
