'Key' debacle in NCP's leadership struggle

In the midst of the ongoing power struggle and internal dynamics within the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), an embarrassing incident unfolded today as the Ajit Pawar faction encountered a setback due to missing keys. Ajit Pawar, currently serving as the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, was scheduled to inaugurate a new party office called 'Rashtrawadi Bhavan' near the state secretariat. However, when Ajit Pawar's loyalists arrived at the new office this morning, they discovered that they were locked out, with the keys nowhere to be found.

Party leaders were forced to wait outside the locked doors while efforts were made to locate the missing keys as quickly as possible. Subsequently, video footage showed young leaders attempting to break the lock to gain entry into the bungalow and prepare it for the inauguration later in the day. However, their problems persisted as they found that the doors of rooms within the bungalow were also locked.

The chosen bungalow for the party office was previously occupied by Ambadas Danve, the Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Council and a supporter of Uddhav Thackeray. Following the incident, Mr. Danve has been assigned another bungalow.

According to NCP leader Appa Sawant, Ambadas Danve's personal assistant had stayed overnight at the bungalow. Sawant mentioned that all arrangements had been made inside, but the personal assistant had locked up and left. They contacted him, and he stated that he was on his way to the Mantralaya (state secretariat) and would hand over the keys to them. Sawant, the vice president of NCP's Mumbai wing, also expressed suspicions of a conspiracy behind the incident.

In summary, Ajit Pawar's camp within the NCP faced embarrassment when they discovered that the keys to their new party office were missing, leading to delays and inconvenience. The incident added to the already tense atmosphere surrounding the leadership struggle within the party.
