The latest episode of The Powerful Humans podcast, hosted by Abhishek Vyas, features senior Congress leader Pawan Khera in an unfiltered and wide-ranging conversation. Khera shared candid views on leadership, India’s political climate, the role of the media, and the challenges faced by the Congress party.
In the discussion, Khera praised Rahul Gandhi’s leadership qualities, describing him as honest, compassionate, and deeply committed to the country’s ideology. He argued that Gandhi embodies the qualities of an “ideal leader” and highlighted his Bharat Jodo Yatra as a symbol of inclusive politics. Reflecting on Congress’ legacy, he also recalled Rajiv Gandhi’s vision for a modern India, crediting him with laying the foundation for India’s computer and telecom revolution.
“If Rajiv Gandhi had two more terms, India’s history would have been very different,” Khera said.
The conversation also touched on pressing issues, including Operation Sindoor, electoral bonds, and the shrinking space for freedom of speech. Khera criticized the Modi government’s approach to governance, claiming that “WhatsApp forwards inspire the Prime Minister’s language and thinking.” He questioned India’s current global standing, pointing out the lack of international support during recent crises and raising concerns about the government’s reluctance to name China directly.
Abhishek Vyas steered the discussion toward the essence of democracy and the importance of dissent. Khera noted that questioning authority is the foundation of a healthy democracy and underlined that silencing critics weakens the nation, not strengthens it. Both agreed that youth must play a bigger role in shaping political narratives that go beyond rhetoric.
