Bikaji Foods founder Shiv Ratan Agarwal passes away at 74

Shiv Ratan Agarwal, founder and Chairman of Bikaji Foods International Ltd, passed away on April 23, 2026, at the age of 74 in Chennai.

Agarwal, who hailed from Sardulganj in Bikaner, established the Bikaji brand in 1993. What began as a modest venture rooted in traditional Bikaneri snacks grew into a widely recognised packaged foods business with a presence across India and international markets. The company built its identity on products such as Bikaneri bhujia before expanding into a broader portfolio over the years. His approach combined traditional product authenticity with scaled manufacturing and distribution, helping Bikaji Foods emerge as a major player in the Indian snacks segment.

Under his leadership, Bikaji Foods achieved public listing on Indian stock exchanges, reaching a milestone that marked the brand's evolution from a regional food business into a nationally prominent company. Following his passing, the company informed stock exchanges that he would no longer be classified under the promoter and promoter group category in accordance with regulatory requirements.

The company's board, management, and employees have expressed condolences to his family. Bikaji Foods has indicated it will continue to build on the foundation Agarwal established, maintaining its focus on growth while upholding the principles that shaped the brand's journey.
