A strange incident took place today in Mumbai when a 25 foot long whale shark was found washed ashore at the Sassoon Dock.
It is understood that this big fish got injured by trawler boats but the details are yet to be confirmed. It might have got caught by mistake in the nets and then got dragged which could have caused this injuries to it.
Atul Patne, Commissioner of fisheries said that the department will make a detail inquiry and try to take precautions to avoid such incidents. The whale shark is now a protected animal under the wildlife protection act.
