Quite recently, Senior Citizens in India have been seeking help from the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi. A Large number of citizens have been congratulating The PM for his deeds in the past 6 years in his endeavours such as "Make in India", " Swachh Bharat Abhiyan", "Digital India", etc.
Some of the following are the requests kept forward by the elder group of people:-
- Interest should be paid on SCSS (Senior Citizen Savings Scheme) in all nationalised banks for atleast 10 percent at par. Currently it is paying 7.25 percent.
- In the private Sector banks, The interest on Fixed Deposit is less than 6% and so in all banks, be it private or Nationalised banks; every bank must give the same amount of interest rates.
- Interest which is currently paid quarterly should be paid monthly.
- Raise the limit from 15 lacs to 30 lacs.
- Senior citizens should be able to get Rs.25,000 monthly interest to live peacefully and gracefully without depending on their children. Tax Must not be deducted on this income.
- The period of investment should be extended to 15 years instead of 5 years.
- Pass a resolution to this scheme that the interest rates should never be reduced but be increased to fight inflation.
- No returns to be filed if income is less than five lacs. If income exceeds 5 lacs tax may be paid accordingly.
- Medicines must be provided to senior citizens on submission of Adhar card; a flat 30% reduction in the cost of medicines must be implied across the country.
- Similarly all pathology checkups, treatments and operations, if any, specially dental treatment should be made free of cost for the senior citizens as is done in the foreign countries.
- Even the medical insurance premiums paid may be reduced accordingly.
- The senior citizens must be provided with a good pension scheme so that they can have some dignity and live a decent lifestyle.
According to our report, grown up children consider their parents as a burden and they leave them to fight their own battle. They are career minded and self centred. Senior Citizens shy away to share this fact as they still regard their children and do not give up on their children at any cost whatever may their sufferings be.
A lot of elderly people say, "We want peaceful night's sleep without any tension about the future in our old age. We hope Mr. Narendra Modi will understand our needs and problems and will implement the needful."
