A Youth blackmailed to pay Rs 18,000 for his private pics and video to not go viral

 

Please Beware of such scammers and don't feel afraid to complain against them

A 21 year old youth in Mumbai has now approached the police to launch a complain against some users who have blackmailed him to pay 18,000 Rs to avoid his nude pictures and video to go viral on the internet and reach his near ones.

The youth lives in Goregaon(East) and he got a message on May 30 from an Instagram user who identified herself as Pragya said Mumbai Police. She expressed her desire to chat with him on a video call.

An official of Mumbai police said that "Minutes after the complainant agreed, he received a call from her. On answering, the complainant saw her nude with her face covered". The call only lasted 3 seconds though.

After that they started chatting on Instagram and convinced him to go nude on a video call. The youth in excitement did what she said and went nude and made the call. The woman recorded the video,which the complainant wasn't aware off.

A day after that he started to get messages from scammers who would threaten him to pay 20,000 Rs otherwise they will share his video to his family and friends. He got scared and payed them 2,000 rupees which made them angry and they shared the video to one of his close friends.

Following this he transferred them another Rs 16,000 and was never threatened again until July 12. After receiving a threat again he approached Police at the Dindoshi Police Station. A case of extortion and criminal intimidation has been filed under the IPC and IT Act.
