President Ramnath Kovind has transferred the Governor of Goa, Satyapal Malik to Meghalaya. At present, the responsibility of the Raj Bhavan of Goa will be handled by the Governor of Maharashtra, Bhagat Singh Koshiyari.
According to the press release issued from Rashtrapati Bhavan, the changes will come into effect from the date he takes charge. The President appointed Malik as the Governor of Goa on 25 October last year. Before that Malik was the governor of Jammu and Kashmir. When Malik was the Governor, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh were made Union Territories.
He will now bear the responsibility as the Governor of Meghalaya.
It is noteworthy that Koshiyari was appointed the Governor of Maharashtra in September last year replacing C. Vidyasagar Rao. His tenure has not yet been completed for a year. He was the center of the political upheavals of Maharashtra in the past.
