After a shortage in revenues, The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided that the Civic body won't take any new road repair projects this year.
From October every year after the rainy season, the BMC decides to take up repairing work but this year have decided not to do so and instead focus on finishing on going projects.
A senior official of BMC said "Taking Note of the strain on finances, we have asked not to take up any new road works. Whatever works have been initiated in April,we will focus on finishing them after the monsoon is over. From October 1,work on road repair will resume."
Officals have said that due to COVID-19 pandemic, the Civic body are having trouble in hiring labourers. So far BMC has received more than 600 complaints about potholes this monsoon.
Recently BMC said that the won't pay the money for COVID-19 facilities which they haven't build. So the question is arises where does the money go then?
