A group of Muslim youths had formed a human chain around a temple to protect it from another group of Muslim Arsonists after violence had broken out on August 11 late night in Bengaluru. Major violence had occurred in Bengaluru over a social media post. At least 3 died, 60 police officials were injured.
On Wednesday, Areas under Pulakeshinagar assembly constituency in Bengaluru resembled a war zone, hours after an unruly mob went on a rampage torching vehicles, infuriated over a 'communally sensitive' social media post allegedly put up by a relative of a Congress MLA. Charred(burnt and blackened) vehicles, shards of glass from broken windows, stones and bricks lie strewn over the deserted roads of the violence- affected localities.
The violent crowd set on fire police vehicles and barged into DJ Halli police station on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday and damaged the property.
Police have arrested about 110 people on charges of rioting.
