Saturday, September 26th 2020 turned out to be a treat for football fans over the world. Last minute winners,great comebacks and VAR controversy surrounded Saturday in European Football this season.
It all started off with a wild game at Amex Stadium in Brighton were history was about to be written. Brighton took the lead through a penalty by Neal Maupay in the 40th minute. Meanwhile Chelsea had to comeback to salvage a point against newly promoted West Brom. Chelsea after spending €200 millions in transfers were on the tight rope of receiving criticism. West Brom went 3-0 inside 27 minutes thanks to a brace from Callum Robinson and Kyle Bartley.
The comeback started in the 55th minute when Mason Mount long range strike found the bottom left corner. A one-two move with Havertz allowed Callum Hudson Odoi to make it 3-2, after he cooly slottled his effort in the bottom right corner. Tammy Abraham levelled the scores and saved Lampard from a humiliating defeat as he tapped in from close range in the 3rd minute to injury time to make it 3-3.
Elsewhere Everton made it 3 wins out of 3 and went on top of the table as they beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at Selhurst Park. Goal from inform Dominic Calwart Lewin and a penalty by Richarlison helped Everton claim all 3 points.
After that damaging defeat in the Europa League Final to Sevilla, Inter Milan left it late to win 4-3 against Florentina. Christiane Kouamé gave the visitors an early lead in the 3rd minute. Lautaro Martinez levelled the scores in the second minute of first half stoppage time.
Inter took the lead through an own goal in the 52th minute. 11 minutes later, Florentina were 2-3 up by goals from Castrovilli and Chiesa,both assisted by Ribery. Romelu Lukaku, Inter's highest goalscorer last season levelled it to make it 3-3 in the 87th minute. Inter won the game through Danilo D'Ambrosio in the 89th minute as they won their opening game of the season.
