The Movie "Anand" is today's Sunday Special. This movie stars the legendary Rajesh Khanna in lead role with another Legend Amitabh Bachchan in supporting role. It also casts Sumita Sanyal, Ramesh Deo and Semma Deo. The Movie was released on 12th March,1971 in India.
Produced and directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee and N.C Sippy,with writers including Bimal Dutta,Gulzar, DN Mukherjee and Biren Tripathy and music composed by Salil Chowdhury, this movie would go on to win several awards including FilmFare Award for the best film in 1972. It was one of the 17 Consecutive Hits delivered by Rajesh Khanna.
Although Kishore Kumar had become the voice of Rajesh Khanna since the success of Aradhana(1969), music composer of the film insisted as Mukesh to be the lead singer as he felt he could voice the character of Anand perfectly. Rajesh Khanna readily agreed to the suggestion.
This movie is about Anand(Rajesh Khanna) who suffers from lymphosarcoma,a rare type of cancer. One day he meets Dr Bhaskar aka Babu Moshai(Amitabh Bachchan) an oncologist who treats patients for free. The movie then potrays the journey of how these two become good friends.
