EPL teams reject "Project Big Picture"

On Wednesday the Premier League clubs rejected the proposed "Project Big Picture" which was proposed by the American Owners of Manchester United and Liverpool.

This proposed project was to make changes to league Structures and finances and instead set up their own review of the game. It would have seen an increase in funds for the 72 clubs of the EFL but would also include special voting rights for top clubs in the Premier League and would have reduced the teams from 20 to 18 in the league.

EFL Chairman Rick Parry had fronted this plan which included a 250 million pound bail out for the clubs who were facing high financial crisis due to the global pandemic, Covid-19.

However all 20 clubs of the Premier League ruled out this project with their own explanations and narratives. The League in a statement said "All 20 Premier League clubs today unanimously agreed that Project Big Picture will not be endorsed or pursued by the Premier League."

The Premier League also said that they have agreed to offer a rescue package to League One and League Two(third and fourth tier) teams who face financial problems which might led to them being bunked.

Despite this plans, several owners of teams of the League 1 and League 2 were enthusiastic about the project as it would have seen them recieve some money. However Championship side Preston North End owner Peter Ridsale took a dig at the Big Six of English Football (Arsenal,Chelsea,Liverpool,Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspurs) and said that he doesn't trust anyone of these teams and has slammed away this proposal.
