A 30-year-old madrassa teacher has been convicted and sentenced to five years rigorous by a special Pocso Act court for sexually abusing two girl students.
Thus came to light in 2016 when one girl, a 10-year-old, refused to attend class. When the other girl's mother prodded, she revealed the incident. The court said the accused was not entitled to leniency. "...under such type of offences, maximum punishment be awarded to accused. Not only to deter the accused... but also to deter the public at large." the court said.
Both minors testified in court. The court said the accused was entrusted with noble work of teaching the Holy Book to kids. "Therefore, people had faith in the accused. The accused took disadvantage of the same," the court said.
