On Sunday morning, the Raigad police shifted,Arnab Goswami Republic TV' Editor-in-chief to Taloja Jail in Navi Mumbai after allegedly using mobile phone in judicial custody in Alibaug inside a make shift quarantine centre for prisoners.
Inspector Jamil Shaikh of Raigad Crime Branch commented on the matter "On Friday, late evening we learned that Goswami was active on social media,using somebody's mobile phone. We had seized his personal mobile when he was arrested from his Worli residence on Wednesday."
He added "As the Investigating officer of the case, I wrote to Alibaug Jail Superintendent seeking an inquiry report as to how he got access to a mobile use in the quarantine centre. Thereafter we decided to shift him to Taloja Jail on Sunday morning."
While being escorted to the Taloja Jail, Goswami would shout from inside the van that he has been assaulted by the Alibaug Jailer on Saturday and now he is forcibly taken to Taloja. He was heard saying "My life is in danger,please tell the courts to help me"." When I wanted to take with my lawyer, I was assaulted in jail by the jailer" he said.
After a long special videoconference hearing on Saturday, The Bombay High Court bench of Justice SS Shinde and MS Karnik reserved Goswami's plea for interim bail for final orders. The High Court will now announce their order at 3pm on November 9,2020.
