Veteran Bengali Actor and former DadaSaheb Phalke Award Winner Soumitra Chatterjee (85) is said to be stable by the doctors but his kidneys are affected.

Chatterjee was tested positive for COVID-19 and was admitted into a private hospital in Kolkata for treatment. He was tested positive on October 6. He was tested negative 8 days later on October 14 but till then his neurological system was affected.

The Head of the team of the doctors treating Chatterjee, Dr Arindam Kar said "His renal functions have taken a toll due to volume loss and some of the antibiotics are not kidney-friendly. We have to get rid of the additional fluid and improve the renal function. We have decided on plasmapheresis and tracheostomy, which have been accepted by his family members".

His health has drastically worsened over the last two weeks. He is said to have tried to open his eyes in the last few days and tried to communicate with his daughter in recent times. On November 2 he had went through a vascular surgery to stop internal bleeding which was leading to the loss of haemoglobin.

We at the Su-Niti News wish him a speedy recovery and offer our courage to his family in this tough times.
