On Saturday,Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Jammu & Kashmir for successfully holding District Development Council (DDC) elections and slammed Puducherry for not holding local body Elections.
In a video conference he said "Jammu and Kashmir elected their representatives within such a short span after it became a Union Territory. But Puducherry is not conducting elections despite Supreme Court orders and those who are in power their teach me democracy everyday."
This attack from PM Modi comes after Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi recently said that there is no democracy in India.
He added "We were in J&K government. But you know why we walked out of the government. Our demand was panchayat election should be held and people be given their due rights to choose their representatives who will work for you. Braving Covid-19,Cold, voters came out and the election was peaceful.People of J&K upheld Mahatama Gandhi's vision of Gram Swaraj."
