Today 29th December,2020 marks the 78th Birth Anniversary of the first Superstar of Indian Cinema and one of the greatest of all time,Rajesh Khanna. We at the Su-Niti News pay our heartiest Birthday Wishes to him and remember him today.
Born in 1942 in Amritsar,Punjab British India(Now Punjab India) as Jatin Khanna he made his debut in 1966 with the movie Aakhri Khat which was also India's first official Oscar entry in 1967.
During his career he acted and appeared in more than 168 feature films and 12 short films. His 82 movies out of the 127 as lead protagonist had ratings of above 4 stars out of 5.
He won the Filmfare Best Actor Award Three times and the BFJA Awards for Best Actor (Hindi) Four times. In 1991 he was honoured with the Filmfare Special Award for completing 26 years in Hindi Cinema and was awarded the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award on the 50th Anniversary of the Filmfare awards.
His record of 15 solo consecutive hits from 1969 to 1971 is still an unbeaten record. Those films were Aradhana,Doli,Bandhan,Ittefaq,Do Raaste,Khamoshi,Safar,The Train,Kati Patang,Sacha Jhutha,Aan Milo Sajna,Mehboob Ki Mehendi,Choti Bahu,Anand and Haathi Mere Saathi. In that time Legendary singer Kishore Kumar would become his mouthpiece in movies and most of Khanna's songs were sung by him.
His Chemistry with Actresses like Sharmila Tagore,Mumtaz,Asha Parekh,Zeenat Aman were very popular with Audiences.
His married Actress Dimple Kapadia in 1973.With her he has two daughters one being Twinkle Khanna(coincidentally she shares the same birthdate as her father),the wife of Actor Akshay Kumar.
On 18th July,2012 Khanna passed away due to an illness. He was posthumously awarded with the Padma Bhushan award.
