Spoils Shared In A Dull Goalless Manchester Derby and More

John Stones and Marcus Rashford

Oh Man where to began this one. Let's keep it short. The Manchester Derby can simply be defined with the "Expectations vs Reality" as despite all the pre game hype, the game failed to generate anything significant as both sides cancelled each other out in a 0-0 dull draw at Old Trafford.

With United dropping out of the Champions League, it was believed that they will try to get a result today and give their fans something to cheer about. Meanwhile City were expected to great chances, have a lot of the ball in terms of possession and test the shaky United backline.

None of this happened.City went closer to scoring twice after De Bruyne played out Riyad Mahrez but the Algerian was denied by United Keeper De Gea in the first half and De Bruyne was not able to score on the Rebound.

The only notable event of the game in the first five minutes of the second half when Kyle Walker brought down Marcus Rashford and the referee Chris Kavanagh waited and gave a penalty to Manchester United. However after consulting the VAR, Marcus Rashford was found to be offside in the buildup of the play and the decision was reversed as Walker breathed a sigh of relief. This result means both are still separated by just 1 point with United on 20 points and City on 19.

From Manchester to Madrid. The Second Local Derby of Saturday.Real Madrid took on Atletico Madrid knowing that a win over rivals would cut the gap between this two at 3 points albeit Atletico would still have a game in hand.Zidane's man got the job done midweek when they needed to win against Gladbach to progress through to the knockout stages of the UCL.

Atletico were unbeaten so far in the season and were sitting on top of the table. Real strucked first after Casemiro headed in the ball from a corner from Toni Kroos in the 15th minute.

Real got their second goal of the game from an unfortunate own goal by Atletico keeper Jan Oblak. A free kick was swinged in by Kroos. Atletico couldn't clear it well and the ball found Real' Right back Dani Carvajal. He drived in a shot from 20 yards out by hitted the post only for the ball to hit the back of Oblak and go in. The Game finished 2-0 for Real, as Atletico tasted their first defeat of the season. Diego Simeone's man are still top of the table, 3 points ahead of Real with a game in hand.
