Cheteshwar Pujara and Rishabh Pant keep the tide moving for India on Day 3

After Batting continuously for 2 days straight,England decided not to declare overnight as they came out to bat on Day 3. They had one thing in mind and that was to keep batting till the end and put a huge score and try to get 20 wickets in the remaining days to get the win.

Having finished with the score of 555/8 at the end of Day 2 having played 180 overs, the visitors would continue their innings as they batted for more 10.1 overs as they raised up a mammoth total of 578 runs in 190.1 overs.

The Indian Batsmens tired of fatigue due to fielding for 2 days were unable to keep up the pace with the England bowling attack. Within the first 10 overs, India lost both openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill as India were knocked down to 44/2.

Things become worse for India when Captain Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane were dismissed in quick succession. Cheteshwar Pujara was joined down in the middle by Rishabh Pant with the score at 73/4 in 26.3 overs. England were all over the place at that moment.

Just as they done in the entire test series against Australia, Pujara and Pant played out their natural game. Pujara kept on defending, while Pant kept on attacking.

The duo added a much important partnership of 119 runs before Dom Bess picked out his third wicket and broke the stand. Pujara got out in a very unfortunate manner. He tried to pull that ball away and connected it well. Ollie Pope who was standing at short leg tried to duck it and the ball hitted his back and lobbed over to Rory Burns at mid wicket who grabbed it. Pujara contributed a well played knock of 73 runs from 143 balls.

Pant who kept on playing his natural game was once again unfortunate to not get a well deserved century. At the score of 91 he tried to go down the ground and smash it over extra cover but the ball spinned away and all he could do was to lob it in the air as the catch was taken by Leach. For the 4th time in his career he had fallen in the "nervous 90's". He scored 91 off 88 balls with 9 fours and 5 sixes to his name.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Washington Sundar saw the rest of the day out finishing with the score at 257/6 in 74 overs. Sundar and Ashwin are Unbeaten at the scores of 33 and 8 respectively. India now trail by 321 runs and needless to say it doesn't look good for the host at the moment.
