As the spring comes closer the Premier League starts to fire up. With the huge clash between Liverpool and Manchester City at Anfield to come on Sunday, the other two teams from Merseyside and Manchester collided as Manchester United fresh from their 9-0 demolition hosted Everton.
United had a chance to once again go level on points with their cross town rivals with a win over Everton. The blues of Merseyside came into this fixture with an important 2-1 win over Leeds United.
The game was of two halves and involved huge errors from both team's goalkeepers. United raced on to a 2-0 lead by the end of the first half time. Edinson Cavani opened the scoring in the 24th minute through a powerful header. He nodded the ball perfectly in the box after the ball was crossed by Marcus Rashford.
Bruno Fernandes got himself on the scoresheet again through a sublime effort. He got the ball from Wan Bissaka and then dummied a pass and curled in a shot from outside the box in the top left hand corner to make it 2-0 in the 45th minute.
The second half started off just as Everton had wished for. 2 goals within the space of opening 6 minutes made it 2-2 in the 52nd minute. Calvert Lewin got behind the backline and tried to play it into he box. His effort which should have been a rather comfortable and routine catch for De Gea was fumbled by him and Abdoulaye Doucoure pounced on it to make it 2-1.
Doucoure then assisted the second as he whipped the ball in the box. James Rodriguez chested it down and then steered the ball in the bottom right hand corner to make it 2-2.
It was then time for De Gea counterpart to make a mistake. United won a free kick which was crossed in by Luke Shaw. Midfielder Scott McTominay headed the ball in though despite not generating enough power saw his effort flew in the 70th minute. The replays showed Robin Olsen the Everton keeper was unable to sort his feet quickly and mistimed his jump.
With 4 minutes added on injury time, United wasted 3 minutes easily. Substitute Axel Tuanzebe who had been on the pitch for nearly a minute conceded a free kick and a yellow card. A long free kick was whipped in and was flicked on by Micheal Keane. The flick well all to perfectly for Dominic Calvert Lewin who took one touch to set it down and poked it past the onrushing De Gea in the right corner to make it 3-3 in the 90+5'.
This Result means another huge 2 points dropped for Manchester United who might now go 5 points behind their Manchester rivals if City win against Liverpool tonight with a game still in the Cityzens hand.
