Shiv Sena Minister Sanjay Rathod resigns amid pressure from Opposition

On Sunday Maharashtra's Forest Minister Sanjay Rathod resigned from Shiv Sena after meeting party leader and Chief Minister Udhaav Thackeray at CM's home.

The reason for his resignation is said to be the pressure put upon him by opposition for his connection in a suicide case of TikTok star Pooja Chavan.

Pooja Chavan(22) had allegedly ended her life by jumping off a building in Pune on February 8. During the investigation Rathod's name had surfaced.

The opposition party had threatened to disrupt and demolish the business in the Lok Sabha if Shiv Sena does not order to resign before the budgetary session which is scheduled to commence on Monday i.e 1st March.

The Banjara community leaders have come forward in support of him and had asked Shiv Sena to not let him go atleast without any sort of formal inquiry.

Rathod has clearly denied all allegations put upon him but has decided to distance himself from politics for a few time. In an official statement he said "I have given my resignation to CM Uddhav Thackeray. The way Opposition is warning that they won't allow Assembly session to function, I have distanced myself from it. I want a fair probe in this case."
