Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Vaze transferred after Allegations of Murder of Mansukh Hiren

On Wednesday, the Maharashtra Government transferred Sachin Vaze, Assistant Police Inspector of the Mumbai Crime Branch after Vimla Hiren, wife of now deceased Mansukh Hiren alleged Vaze for the murder of her husband.

Famous as one of Mumbai Police's so called "encounter specialist", Vaze was reinstated on duty from June 2020, after being suspended for 16 years for playing a major role in the custodial death of Khwaja Yunus in 2003.

He was the investigative officer in the case of explosives found near the home of Reliance Owner, Mukesh Ambani at Altamount Road in a scorpio car.

The car owner was identified as Mansukh Hiren who was found dead a few days after this incident. Before the Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) she has alleged that Vaze had been using the car since November 2020 till February 2020. In further allegations, she claimed that Vaze told Mansukh to get arrested and gave him his assurance of bailing him out quickly.

Yesterday Opposition leader and former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in the state assembly had demanded for the arrest of Vaze in connection with this case. He demanded that if not murder, then Vaze should atleast be charged with destruction of evidence. He would also go on claim that if Vaze is not arrested, then someone was protecting him.

In the state assembly today, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said "Police Officer Sachin Vaze will be removed from his current posting in the crime branch, till the investigation is completed. I am taking this decision in the view of the rising demand from the opposition. We will take appropriate action against Vaze if he is involved in his death."
