Just two days after England recorded a huge win against India in the first T20I, these two met again on Sunday for the second T20I as India were looking to get back into the series while England tried to take a grip in the series with a win.
This time India won the toss and elected to field first, just like England had done in the previous game. There was one change for England as Mark Wood made way for Tom Curran. Whereas for India Ishan Kishan and SuryaKumar Yadav made their debut as Shikhar Dhawan and Axar Patel were rested for this match.
After making a fast start in the first match, England didn't got what the wanted as Jos Buttler was send back to pavilion in the very first over as Bhuvenshwar Kumar dismissed him for a golden duck by a LBW.
Unlike Buttler, Roy did exactly what he did in the first game. He played out another fantastic knock as he was well supported by D Malan from the other end. The duo didn't allow the Early wicket to affect the visitors as they kept on firing.
In the eighth over, England were flowing with a run rate of 8. As things were looking good for them, Malan was judged out for lbw as Yuzi Chahal picked up an important wicket and broke the partnership.
As things kept on going, Jason Roy missed out another half century when he tried to smash the ball out of the boundary but didn't got the timing he required as the ball was well caught by Kumar in the deep. With Roy's dismissal England were 91/3 in 11.1 overs.
England were then disappointed as they were unable to convert the good start despite losing an early wicket into a bigger score as wickets kept on falling at regular intervals.
In the end England finished with a score of 164/6 in 20 overs as they would feel they were 20-25 runs short of what they would have expected.
India also didn't get the good start as they were hoping for as KL Rahul was dismissed for a duck in the very first over as his bad form continued.
Virat Kohli walked out in the middle, supported on the other side by Debutant Ishan Kishan. After the Wicket maiden first over, fireworks started from the Indian batting lineup. India added 50 overs in the next 5 overs as they finished the powerplay with 50/1 with Ishan Kishan taking centre stage.
The duo of Kishan and Kohli added 96 runs which saw Kishan complete a brillant maiden fifty. He though got a little greedy and tried to play the reverse sweep which resulted him losing his wicket as the ball hitted his leg. There were some other chances as well but the fielding was that let England down.
Kishan scored 56 Runs of 32 balls which included 5 fours and 4 sixes. He was replaced on the pitch by Rishabh Pant who did exactly what he does. A quick fire knock of 26 runs of 13 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes from him made the task all to easy for India.
Virat Kohli would complete his fifty and take his side to the finish line in the 18th over as he remained unbeaten at 73 runs from 49 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes as India finished with 166/3 in 17.5 overs as India won by 7 wickets.
