After emerging as unlikely 2-1 winners in the first leg of the Round of 16 against Juventus, Porto would make headlines again as they knocked out the Italian Champions from the competition after a dramatic game which saw them lose 3-2 after extra time, but ensured their qualification on away goals rule.
Two quick goals either side of the half had given Porto a 2-0 lead in the first leg,which was then reduced to one as Federico Chiesa made sure Juventus headed into the second leg with something in their hand.
In the 17th minute of the game, Moussa Marega tried to steer the ball to Mehdi Taremi,who was then caught from behind by defender Merih Demirel resulting in a penalty for Porto. Midfielder Sergio Oliveira made no mistake in placing his penalty in the bottom left hand corner, sending Szczesny the wrong way.
With Juve now trailing by 2 goals on aggregate, they needed to score atleast twice to take it to extra time and three to win it in normal time. The got an early goal in the second half as Federico Chiesa once again made no mistake as he curled up a right footed effort in the top right corner to make it 1-1 on the night in the 49th minute.
Juventus were then offered a huge lifeline when Porto's first leg hero Mehdi Taremi picked up two yellow cards in less than no time and got himself send off. The first game in the 52nd minute for his challenge on Chiesa. His second yellow came literally two minutes later in the 54th minute, when he was judged to fire the ball forward after the whistle had gone.
Chiesa got on the scoresheet again as he timed his run perfectly to steer a header into the top left hand corner, powering home an inviting cross at the far post from Juan Cuadrado in the 63rd minute.
Juventus thought that they had won the game in the first minute of injury time when Alvaro Morata attempt went in off the post in the bottom right hand corner. However the offside flag was up and VAR also confirmed the same.
Cuadrado himself had the chance to win the game in injury time but was unlucky as his attempt cannoned off the bar in the 3rd minute of injury time and the match went into extra time.
In extra time, it was Porto who delivered the hammer blow as Oliveira got his second of the game to make it 2-2 on the night and 4-3 on aggregate in the 115th minute. It was a bit of brillance from him as he converted a free kick by firing the low beneath the wall and though Szczesny got a hand to it, he was unable to keep it out.
However Juventus made the game interesting once again as they got an instant reply through Adrien Rabiot. A corner was delivered in by Federico Bernardeschi which was headed in by Rabiot in the top left hand corner to make it 3-2 in the 117th minute, and 4-4 on aggregate. Juventus had a late shout for penalty ruled out as Porto hanged on and progressed through to the Quarter Finals of the competition on away goals rule despite losing on the night.
