Ban on Sale of Liquor in Thane until demands are met says Hotel and Restaurant Owner's Association

Sustaining heavy losses due to the night curfew, the Hotel and Restaurant Owner's Association in Thane have decided to protest against the restrictions and have announced a ban on the sale of liquor in the district until their demands are fulfilled.

They have demanded that the excise fees(tax imposed on production, license and sale) be allowed to be paid in installments and the curfew which was imposed at 8pm be lifted.

Earlier the Maharashtra Government had ordered restaurants, malls, cinema halls and public places to shut down by 8pm. Gathering of more than 5 people is also prohibited under the new rules in public places.

Believing that the main business in Hotels and Restaurants starts after 8pm, the association have made it clear that until their demands are not fulfilled, the ban will remain intact. Thane City, Kalyan, Dombivali and Navi Mumbai will face this ban as they come under the Thane District.
