Corruption Case filed against Ex Maha Home Minister Anil Deshmukh by CBI

On Saturday the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted raids across Maharashtra and filed a case of corruption against Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh while investigating under the allegations placed by Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh.

The Agency filed an FIR under sections of prevention of Corruption Act against Deshmukh after finishing the enquiry on Friday.

According to reports on 14th April, the CBI had grilled Deshmukh for around eight hours and focused on his equations with now suspended Mumbai Police API Sachin Waze. The CBI had also asked whether it was normal for the former home minister to meet officials of Waze's rank at his residence.

Anil Deshmukh's name surfaced up when Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh dropped a "Letter Bomb" and alleged that Deshmukh had asked Waze to collect a sum of Rs 100 Crore for him every month from bars and restaurants in the City.

Reacting to this development, both the NCP and Shiv Sena said nobody is above the law.

NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik said "Nobody is above the law. Anil Deshmukh is cooperating with the agencies. We have full faith in judiciary and know that the truth behind the political conspiracy will be exposed through the probe."

Meanwhile Shiv Sena Leader Sanjay Raut said "It is not correct to comment on CBI's action. Anil Deshmukh has already given his statement in the case. CBI is doing their work, similarly the high court and the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government are doing their own work."
