On Wednesday afternoon a major car bomb blast which killed at least 3 people and left 20 injured was reported near the residence of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) founder and 26/11 Mumbai terror attack mastermind Hafeez Saeed.
The blast is said to have taken place at the BOR Society in Jauhar Town of Lahore. Punjab Police Chief Inam Ghani said that there would have been a "major loss" had there be no police picket near his (Saeed) residence.
Labelling it as a terror attack, Ghani said "Explosive material was installed in the car. There was a police picket outside the high value target's house. The car could not cross the police picket."
The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has now taken over the site and have started the investigation.
Hafeez Saeed (71), is serving a jail sentence at a prison in Lahore for his conviction in terror financing cases.
