On Wednesday morning, Group Captain Varun Singh, the sole survivor of the military chopper crash near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu, succumbed to his injuries.
He was undergoing treatment at the Bengaluru Command Hospital following the tragic air crash on December 8 which claimed the lives of India's first Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat, and the other armed forces personnel.
"IAF is deeply saddened to inform the passing away of braveheart Group Captain Varun Singh, who succumbed this morning to the injuries sustained in the helicopter accident on 08 Dec 21. IAF offers sincere condolences and stands firmly with the bereaved family" the IAF announced on Twitter.
