Mumbai Man arrested for duping and posing as IPS officer on matrimonial sites

 

According to reports, the Mumbai Police have arrested a man for duping a woman and posing as an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer on matrimonial sites in Mumbai.

The accused, identified as Abhijeet Parmeshwar Gadhave, used to pose as an IPS officer and claimed that his father is a retired army officer in a fake profile on matrimonial sites.

On the complaint by the woman who was duped by the accused, the police started their investigation. The police arrested the accused from a building in Ghatkopar.

  • According to the victim, the accused had introduced himself as an IPS officer and has promised her a job with a company at Mumbai Airport. The accused took over Rs 70,000 for providing an ID and joining letter for the company.

The woman later realised that she had been duped when she contacted the officials at the company, who informed her that the ID and the letter were fake.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
