After few days of speculation and thinking, the Western and Central Railways have announced that all women will be allowed to enter and travel through local trains in Mumbai from October 21.
Considered as the "lifeline" of Mumbai, the Mumbai Locals have been through a phase of lockdown and were now operating only for Essential service workers. But now women no matter their work, will be allowed to travel freely.
The timings they will be allowed will be from 11am to 3pm and then from 7pm till services run. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal tweeted out that "I am happy to announce that Railways will allow women to travel on suburban trains from 21 Oct between 11am to 3pm & after 7pm." He also stated that they were already ready with the idea but were waiting for final orders.
