In the midst of mounting tension in Afghanistan, India on Tuesday evacuated it's entire embassy including the Indian Ambassador. This mission was pulled off with the help of the Indian Air Force (IAF) which carried 130 diplomats and 20 Indians stranded in Afghanistan and landed in Jamnagar.

According to reports, this is the second time after 1996 that India has to evacuate it's mission in Kabul. Both times this happened after the Taliban came into power.

The airflight which took off from Kabul landed at Jamnagar for refueling. It later flew to Delhi. This is the second evacuation flight. On Monday, another C-17 Aircraft had evacuated around 40 people including some Indian Embassy stuff from Kabul before the operations at the airport were suspended.

Indian Ambassador to Afghanistan Rudrendra Tandon later thanked the IAF for this mission despite not normal conditions.

"Your welcome has an impact on all of us. Thanks to the Indian Air Force who flew us out under conditions that are not normal" said Tandon after landing in Jamnagar, Gujarat.

  • India has also announced a new category of electronic visa "e-Emergency X-Misc Visa" to fast-track applications from Afghans who wish to leave the now Taliban controlled country.

Shocking visuals emerged from Kabul airport yesterday which saw several people on the runaway trying to somehow get inside the plane to save their lives. Another heartbreaking video saw 3 individuals falling down from the sky after clutching the tires of the planes to escape the country.
