Death Toll Rises to 13 in the Mahad Disaster

 

Around 40-50 people have now homeless because of this disaster

A day after the collapse of 5 Storey Building Tarique Gardens in Mahad in the Raigad District of Maharashtra, the death toll has reached to 13 as the NDRF Team continues it's rescue Operation.

The 13 deceased included 3 minors as the building collapsed. In what is now claimed to be a miracle, a 4 year old named Mohammed Bangi was pulled out of the debris after been struck for more than 19 hours. A Few hours later a 60 year old Mehrunissa Kazi was pulled out after being struck for more than 26 hours.

After half an hour after little Mohammed was pulled out of the debris with minor injuries, the mood turned dark as the lifeless body of his mother Naushin(32) along with the bodies of his sisters Aisha(6) and Rukaiya(2).

According to thier Uncle, the family has just moved out of village for Aisha's study through online classes to get better connection. Their father used to stay in Dubai but has now arrived in India.

Minister of Relief and Rehabilitation Vijay Wadettiwar visited the spot on Tuesday and has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to everyone who lost a dear one and Rs 50,000 to those critically injured.

Wadettiwar also said that "The Builder,the developer,whoever was the structural designer have taken the lives of these people. The contractor and everyone else has committed a sin.. no one will be spared. They will have to face the hardest punishment."
